Kirsty Mitchell began her artistic career aged 16 studying fine art, photography and history of art. After specialising in "Costume for Performance", at the London College of Fashion, she interned with the fabulous Alexander McQueen and Hussien Chalayan until graduating at the age of 25.
Kirsty spent the next decade as Senior Designer for Karen Millen and spent a good deal of time travelling around China and India learning their crafts in textiles and beadwork. During this time she rediscovered her love for photography and began an emotional journey through this medium capturing her mothers struggle through cancer treatment.
After the tragic death of her mother, Kirsty's exploration of photography grew as a way of coping with the grief. In 2009 she began her 6 year journey capturing images for her stunning series entitled "Wonderland" in memory of her late mother.
The photographs, since being published, have won 2 International Awards and appeared in the likes of Harper's Bazaar, Vogue and The Royal Society of Photography, to name but a few. Due to the incredible success of "Wonderland", Kirsty will be launching her second series this Autumn.
Kirsty's work is so inspirational to us. We love her vibrant use of colour, texture and textile layering and wonderfully imaginative story telling. We can't wait to see her next series!!
