Owl and Pussycat Installation

Every festival installation has a story behind it…

Sourcing and buying the boat was just the start.

We decorated and painted it pea green.

We made it watertight.

We designed and printed the sails to include the Nursery Rhyme text.

We sourced the props to decorate the boat (quince, honey and plenty of money… as the nursery rhyme goes)

We then floated it on the lake and anchored it (a bit too securely as none of us are sailors)

Despite all the planning, sometimes things do go wrong…

A sudden gust capsized the boat, sending our hand-sourced props to the bottom of the muddy depths.

Our crew waded out to salvage the goods.

We worked hard on getting the boat shipshape again and redressing it in plenty of time to welcome the visitors to the festival.

The following year, we were back on the same site for the next installation, and our crew were still finding treasure from the shipwreck, including a pewter tray and a crystal decanter in the mud at the bottom.
